In May 2024 semester, under the guidance of IT Lecturer Ts. Soo Weng Jyh, students from the DIT2234 Human-Computer Interaction course embarked on an incredible journey of creativity and innovation. Three groups of students took on the challenge of developing games using the Roblox platform, and their fantastic creations are now live for everyone to enjoy! Don’t miss out—jump in and play the students’ Roblox games today!
Meanwhile, another three groups have crafted stunning websites that showcase the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These projects beautifully highlight the students’ dedication to making a positive impact through technology.
This final project embraced self-directed and peer learning approaches, showcasing the students’ remarkable ability to acquire new skills—particularly in Roblox game development. Basic LUA scripting was mastered, and design principles were applied to create user-friendly interfaces, seamless navigation, and engaging game elements.
Special acknowledgment goes to Wam Wei Kang, who served as the technical consultant, assisting students in overcoming challenges during the Roblox game development process. His expertise was invaluable in helping students tackle technical issues and elevate their projects to new heights.
Throughout this journey, students collaborated effectively, communicated with their teams, planned meticulously, and stayed on track with their project milestones. Prototypes were continuously tested and refined, with feedback and guidance sought to ensure alignment with project goals.
To celebrate their hard work, on August 9, 2024, all IT lecturers, including Ms. Sunita, Ms. Hafizah, and Ms. Sophia, were invited to L704 to experience the students’ final HCI projects first-hand. Lecturers were encouraged to dive into the student-developed Roblox games and explore the SDG-themed websites. This event provided students with a unique opportunity to receive direct feedback from their mentors.
This final project has provided students with invaluable experiences, and the resulting games and websites are expected to serve as strong portfolio pieces, showcasing their creativity and technical skills. The aim is to continue nurturing their passion for learning and innovation.
