Campus Visit from SMK Methodist Setiawan, Perak

On July 16, 2024, UCSI College was abuzz with excitement as 80 students and 8 teachers from SMK Methodist Setiawan, Perak, visited our campus. It was a privilege to host them and share insights into the dynamic world of Information Technology.

Following an engaging campus tour at UCSI University, the event continued with a warm welcome and an inspiring introduction by Ms. Sunita, Head of Programme of IT School at the UCSI College. She captivated the audience with her presentation on ten promising areas within Information Technology, Information Systems, and Cyber Security. Ms. Sunita emphasized the importance of these fields in the job market, preparing the students for a future filled with potential and opportunities.

Next, Ts. Soo Weng Jyh took the stage, delivering an engaging and enlightening session on cyber security. His expertise and passion for the subject significantly enhanced the students' awareness and understanding of cyber security's critical role in our digital age. The highlight of his session was the interactive online game, Google Interland, developed by Google. The students enthusiastically participated, enjoying the game's fun and educational aspects.

As the day progressed, the students were divided into smaller groups to participate in various workshops, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and IT. Twenty students expressed a keen interest in the IT Workshop. Under the guidance of Ts. Soo Weng Jyh, these students began creating their first website using an online builder powered by Generative AI. The hands-on experience was both informative and exhilarating. The students were attentive, engaged, and eager to learn, reflecting positively on the workshop.

By the end of the session, the students had gained valuable new skills and knowledge. Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing newfound interests and aspirations in IT. The day's activities concluded happily around 5 PM, leaving everyone with a sense of accomplishment and excitement for the future.
